USB Cop 1.0

The Autorun.inf-file is unsafe, but turning it off is uncomfortable and does not protect other computers. This program does. And it also performs certain actions when a USB-Stick is plugged in, so you won't loose functionality.

This little program turns off the built-in autorun.inf file mapping and discovers possible malicious autorun.inf files. but instead that there is no way to start something automatically, this program at least shows you the content and lets you choose what you want to do. The autorun.inf file seems to be loved very much by malware programmers, the worm Conficker (Kido) is one example for malware that uses USB Drives to spread. With the "right" commands in the autorun.inf, it is already enough to connect the drive - and your PC will be infected. Unlike common Antivirus Programs, this program does not only block the execution of files estimated malicious, it blocks EVERY autorun file and asks the user what to do. And it analyses the content and the file attributes to warn the user. It is also able to rename or delete the file. AV progs ask WHEN one of the started files is malicious. and it blocks only that one then. And that's the trap. Well, this doesn't work with USB Cop ;) .
